Tecnimap 2010 closes it doors with a resounding success in participation figures and content

TECNIMAP 2010 closed its doors with very positive results. A total of 6,200 experts in new technologies and public administration participated directly at the sessions, which attracted 171 exhibitors to the exhibition side of the conference from organisations, private companies and institutions. In addition to this, 8,000 visitors attended the TECNIMAP 2010 Urban Space “Public Administration on the street”, resulting in final visitor figures of over 14,000, a show of support which clearly demonstrates the interest in administrative modernisation in Spanish Society.

Thus, the objective of this eleventh edition of the biennial reference event for Information Technologies applied to Administrative Modernisation has been successfully achieved by arriving to the man on the street and showing him all the public services at his disposal.

The positioning of Spanish administrations was viewed very positively throughout the sessions with special emphasis on the need to involve citizens in “this revolution”.

This event also coincided with Spain assuming Presidency of the European Union, for which TECNIMAP paid special attention to its neighbouring countries, accepting for the first time conference papers from the EU and created a special category in the TECNIMAP awards to recognise pioneering initiatives in applications for improving public services.

TECNIMAP 2010 will also be a reference for the future. The subjects of debate at this technological Summit for Public Administration included issues such as the need to involve citizens in the modernisation process and the establishment of channels of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
